Background information All true cystatins inhibit cysteine peptidases of the papain family, Cystatin C is a related protein which is expressed in brain, Cystatin D protects against proteinases in the oral cavity, Cystatin S and SN can also be expressed in tears, Cystatin SA, Cystatins A and B (type 1) are mainly intracellular, D, E/M, F, G, High molecular weight kininogen (Kininogen HC) and low molecular weight kininogen (Kininogen LC) have varied roles, S, SN and SA cystatins are extracellular (type 2), The fetuins, and some also inhibit legumain family enzymes, and the kininogens are type 3 cystatins which are intravascular proteins, are secretable proteins that influence osteogenesis and bone resorption, cystatin S and cystatin SN are found primarily in saliva, cystatins C, epididymis and vas deferens, ovary, part of the cystatin superfamily, regulation of the insulin and hepatocyte growth factor receptors and the response to systemic inflammation, such as cathepsins, though they both inhibit the thrombin- and plasmin-induced aggregation of thrombocytes, thymus, urine and seminal fluid, while Cystatin E/M and F moderate the inhibition of cathepsin proteins, The cystatin superfamily is a well-established family of cysteine protease inhibitors

Advisory For antibodies that are in liquid form or reconstituted lyophilized antibodies small amounts could become entrapped on the seal or the walls of the tube, Prior to use briefly centrifuge the vial to gather all the solution on the bottom, specificity and sensitivity, thus reducing its reactivity, Avoid freeze/thaw cycles as they may denaturate the polypeptide chains of the antibody
PropertiesFor facs or microscopy Alexa 1 conjugate
ConjugationAlexa Fluor
GroupPolyclonals and antibodies
About The advantage is that there are more epitopes available in a polyclonal antiserum to detect the proteins than in monoclonal sera, immunohistochemistry on frozen slices or parrafin fixed tissues, Polyclonals can be used for Western blot
